In organising transport, freight forwarding and related services, GVM Europe Kft. aims to take account of environmental impacts, human considerations and fair business conduct alongside safe performance.
This statement summarises the principles of the Company’s responsible operations and the areas in which it intends to develop. It does not constitute a sustainability report, a certificate or an independently verified attestation of performance. It does not in itself demonstrate compliance with any particular ESG requirements.
1. Environmental considerations
The environmental impact of transport depends on a combination of the route, the mode of transport, the vehicle, the load factor and the characteristics of the cargo.
When organising services, the Company aims to consider the following, taking into account the options available, customer needs and safety requirements:
- sensible route planning and the reduction of unnecessary transport movements;
- opportunities to reduce empty running and make better use of capacity;
- the mode of transport appropriate to the given task;
- the reduction of unnecessary waiting time and resource use;
- the responsible handling of packaging materials and other operational waste.
Environmental considerations must not override traffic, occupational safety or cargo security requirements.
We communicate emission reductions or other environmental results only where they are supported by appropriate data. Without well-founded evidence, we do not claim that any service is carbon-neutral, emission-free or demonstrably sustainable.
2. Social considerations
Responsible logistics operations rest on the safety of employees, service providers and business partners and on respect for their human dignity.
Our expectations include in particular:
- safe working practices and appropriate working conditions;
- compliance with driving and rest periods and other limits on working time;
- respectful cooperation free from harassment and discrimination;
- the rejection of forced labour, human trafficking and unlawful child labour;
- the provision of the professional knowledge and safety information required for the task.
Business or performance expectations that encourage rule-breaking or unsafe work are not acceptable.
We regard raising problems and dealing with them properly as part of responsible operations.
3. Corporate governance and business integrity
In the Company’s operations, clear areas of responsibility, traceable decisions and accurate documentation form the basis of responsible corporate governance.
Within this framework, we expect:
- truthful and verifiable business communication;
- the rejection of corruption and undue advantages;
- the reporting and resolution of conflicts of interest;
- fair competition;
- appropriate protection of personal data and trade secrets;
- the accuracy of transport documents, certificates of performance and accounts;
- factual documentation of errors and incidents causing loss or damage.
Detailed expectations of conduct are set out in the Code of ethics, and the procedures for carrying out transport tasks in the Operational transport instructions.
4. Cooperation with partners
We expect our business partners and service providers to operate in a manner consistent with our principles.
When selecting partners and evaluating cooperation, we consider, as appropriate to the nature of the task, professional suitability, safety, reliability and relevant environmental, social or ethical risks.
The specific obligations regarding data provision, inspection and performance are determined by the contract between the parties. This statement does not in itself create unlimited rights of inspection and does not amend existing agreements.
5. Data and areas for development
We intend to base the assessment of our environmental and social performance on reliable, comparable data.
Areas for development suited to our operations may include:
- a better overview of transport movements and capacity utilisation;
- the assessment of fuel and energy consumption where data are available;
- monitoring of safety incidents and preventive measures;
- documentation of professional and occupational safety training;
- regular evaluation of partner risks and customer feedback.
This list does not constitute a claim that a measurement system is already in operation or that any results have been achieved.
Numerical targets should only be adopted once baseline data, a measurement method, a deadline and a responsible person have been defined. Where results are published later, the source, period and material limitations of the data must be stated.
